Foodstuffs Supervision Conducted at Six Traditional Markets

Joint personnel conducted foodstuffs supervision at six traditional markets in East Jakarta. This activity was carried out to ensure that the public avoids consuming hazardous food ingredients.

East Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture Sub-agency Head, Taufik Yulianto said the supervision is routinely held, especially ahead of religious holidays.

"We need to ensure public are consuming safe foodstuffs from traditional markets especially ahead of Eid ul Adha," he said, Tuesday (5/20).

Taufik explained that based on the results of laboratory tests on 11 samples of agricultural products and two livestock products at Ciracas Market, all were declared free of hazardous materials or substances.

Then, 11 samples of agricultural products and two livestock products at Cijantung Market were also declared safe for consumption. Furthermore, the test results of 10 samples of agricultural commodities and two livestock products at Kramat Jati Market were also declared free of hazardous materials or substances.

"For the laboratory test results, nine samples of agricultural products and two livestock products at Cibubur Market were also declared safe. Likewise, nine samples of agriculture and two livestock products at Jambul Market. A total of 10 samples of fisheries and two livestock products tested from Makasar Lokbin Market were also safe for consumption," he explained.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency's Food Security and Agriculture Section Head, Hendra Juniarto, stated today's supervisions were held at Kramat Jati Market, Cibubur, Ciracas, Jambul, Cijantung, and Lokbin Makasar Markets.

"Kramat Jati Market is a central location for laboratory examination of agricultural and livestock commodity samples," he stated.

According to him, samples from traders tested in the laboratory were rice, chicken, beef, vegetables, and fruits.

"We tested the ingredients of Pesticide Residues, Formalin, Chlorine, and Eber," he added.
